Radial nerve lesion after malposition and sedation by continuous target controlled infusion of propofol for extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy.

چکیده
Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is the gold standard treatment for ureteral calculosis. Radial neuropathy related to anesthetic or surgical procedures is a very rare complication and it is generally related to compression factors1. To date and to our knowledge, there are no descriptions of radial nerve lesion after ESWL procedure. A 36 years old female patient (61 Kg) with ureter calculosis disease, presented to ambulatory ESWL on the left lumbar region. She had previous history of post-spinal anesthesia headache. Pre-operative examinations were normal.

Dexmedetomidine versus fentanyl as adjuvant to propofol: comparative study in children undergoing extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy.
BACKGROUND the present study was designed to compare the efficacy, tolerability and safety of dexmedetomidine and fentanyl when combined with propofol during extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy in children. METHODS fifty children aged 3-8 years, the American Society of Anesthesiologists status I and II, scheduled for elective extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy were randomly allocated to ...

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to determine whether alfentanil given by a pharmacokinetic-based target controlled infusion (TCI) system under patient control is a suitable analgesic technique for extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL). METHODS The design was an open, unblinded, noncomparative, prospective study. Forty outpatients undergoing ESWL were given patient maintained alfe...
متن کاملAlfentanil analgesia/sedation for extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy: a comparison with general and epidural anesthesia.
An alfentanil infusion was used to produce analgesia and sedation for patients undergoing extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy with the Dornier HM-4 lithotripter. This was compared to general and epidural anesthesia in a retrospective review of 197 consecutive patients. Total care time, anesthesia time, and recovery room time were shorter for the alfentanil analgesia/sedation group. The incide...
متن کاملAntibiotic prophylaxis in the prevention of urinary tract infection in patients with sterile urine before extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy
Background: One of the lithotripsy complications is urinary tract infection (UTI) and sepsis after extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL). The aim was to study the prophylactic effect of antibiotics on UTI after ESWL. Methods: This randomized double-blind clinical trial was carried out on 600 patients admitted to Babol Clinic hospital in 2014-2015. Patients were randomly divided into tre...
متن کاملTarget-controlled infusion of remifentanil with or without flurbiprofen axetil in sedation for extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy of pancreatic stones: a prospective, open-label, randomized controlled trial
BACKGROUND Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is an effective therapeutic method used to treat patients with pancreatic stones. However, the anesthesia for this procedure has been underappreciated, with minimal reports of these procedures in certain case series with general or epidural anesthesia. METHODS A cohort of 60 patients who elected to undergo ESWL in order to treat pancreat...
